SOUTH MIAMI LEAGUE RULES

OFFICIAL RULES

1.             Games are five innings

2.             Six Batters or three outs, which ever comes first

3.             All batters hit off the tee

4.             No strike outs

5.             Umpire will make final ruling

6.             Players will use a softer ball

7.             Runners will stop at base on a overthrow

8.             Runners may keep running if hit ball is out in the out field.  When ball gets to the clay infield runners will be placed depending on where they are in accordance with the white line between base paths.
9.              Ball hit over the cones is a home run. Ball that rolls thru the cones is a double.

Official Game Rules

7U and 8U Coach Pitch

1. Game is 6 innings
2. Team may score a maximum of 6 runs per inning
3. Run Rule is 15 runs after 4 or 10 runs after 5 complete innings
4. Time Limit is 1 hour and 20 min.
5. Players on the field are 10  (6 infielders and 4 outfielders)
6. You can start a game with 8 players
7. All players on the bench will bat
8. If a player shows up late he must go at end of lineup
9. Free substitution but have to keep same batting order.
10. No bunting.
11. No head first slides at home.
12. Infield players must hold up the ball in fair territory in order for time to be out.
13. Batter shall receive 5 pitches or 3 strikes . If the fifth pitch is fouled off the batter is still up.
14. Once a team bats around the batting order or 3 outs or 6 runs the inning is over.
15. Players must slide at home plate if there is a play.  If player doesn’t slide, player is out.
16. Games are scored a tie if the score is tied at the end of the prescribed number of innings or time limit.  One additional inning may be played at umpire's discretion.  Each team will receive a half game won and a half game loss. 
17. Games are official after 3 complete innings.

9U to 12U

1. Dropped third strike is in effect.(only in 11-12 division)
2. Game is 6 innings in length.
3. Run rule is 15 after 3 innings or 10 after 4 complete innings
4. Time limit is 1 hour and 45 min.
5. Games are official after 3 complete innings.
6. 9 players on the field
7. A team can start a game with 8 players
8. All players on the bench can bat.
9. A pinch runner may be used for the catcher when there are two outs. Must use last out of the inning.
10. Metal cleats are not permitted
11. No head first slides at any base
12. Stealing of home is not permitted, Runners may score on pass balls and wild throws by the catcher. NO SUICIDE SQUEEZE PLAYS.
13. Catcher must wear a fully protected helmet.
14. Games are scored a tie if the score is tied at the end of the prescribed number of innings or time limit. One additional inning may be played at umpire's discretion. Each team will receive a half game won and a half game loss.
15. Players must slide to avoid contact if player does not slide, player is out.
16. No slashing.
17. Players may only steal when ball crosses home plate
18. Once a pitcher is removed from pitching, he may not come back to pitch.

Pitch Count Rules

75 pitches max per game

66+ pitches= 4 days rest

51-65 pitches=3 days rest

36-50 pitches=2 days rest

21-35 pitches=1 days rest

1-20 pitches = 0 days rest

A protest may only be made on rules infractions NOT judgment calls.  All protests must be made to the umpire and chief prior to the next pitch, play or attempted play.  The protest must be followed in writing along with a $100.00 protest filing fee.  If the protest is upheld, the fee will be refunded.

General Rules 

• Only coaches and a scorekeeper are allowed in dugouts.
• NO manager or coach may smoke in dugouts or on the field.
• Any player or manager ejected from game will serve a minimum one game suspension and must leave the ball park.
• Each team must have their own scorekeeper.
• All players must be in complete uniform to play including socks, shirt, belt, pants and hat.
